Adopt a Pomeranian / Corgi / Mixed (long coat)

Pomeranian / Corgi / Mixed (long coat) Dog

Peaches Pagoda the Dog needs a home

Peaches is one of a kind. She is friendly, silly, and fun-loving. She is an ~18 lb mixed breed dog, about 3 years old, who looks like a Pomeranian / Corgi mix. She is very mellow and does not require a ton of exercise or play time. She is alert and interactive but left to her own devices, she is most likely to be found taking a nap somewhere. We have a crate for  her which we rarely use and she loves her crate, she often goes in on her own to take a nap with the door open. She is completely housetrained and uses the doggy door to let herself in and out for potty breaks. She can be left in the house on her own when she is home alone and she never whines / barks or causes any destruction. She has no separation anxiety whatsoever. She loves to go on walks but she can't go too far or too fast without getting tired. Her short little legs just can't keep up! She is OK with other dogs once she gets to know them but she does not seek out the company of the other dog in her foster home. She is OK being picked up / carried and she loves to go for rides in the car. She actually enjoys being held on her back and having her tummy rubbed. She is a very good office dog and will sleep and be quiet at your desk if you bring her to work. She is totally fine with the cat in her foster home and would be great in a home with cats. She is not the brightest crayon in the box but after a few weeks with us, she has finally mastered "sit" and we are all very excited about it.  =)

Peaches is very sensitive to pain or perceived pain and she needs an adopter that will be understanding of that. She does not like having her nails trimmed (though we do it at home, and can show you how) and she is very fearful at the vet and needs to be muzzled in order to be examined. Unfortunately she can be nippy if she is scared but so far we've only seen her just bump your hand with her teeth, she doesn't actually bite. It's really just a warning. She is also sensitive to strangers / new people and takes a few minutes to warm up to people. Offering treats definitely helps. But she is definitely not the type of dog that will jump in a strangers lap. She is good with both men and women once she gets to know them. Actually - she has bonded with the man in her house a bit more than the woman because her foster dad "wrestles" with her which she really loves. She can often be found reclining in his lap while he plays video games. She has some cute puppyish play behavior that only comes out when enticed but when you get her to show her playful side it's very cute. She does have a bit of a guard dog tendency which can be nice as she will always let you know when someone is at the door but she doesn't carry on too long once someone enters if you help her settle down.

Peaches will be a great fit for the right home. Because she can be nippy at times, she needs a home with no kids. A quiet adult home or a home with someone who is retired might be a great fit for her. Overall she is a happy, affectionate, easy going girl and her personality is just adorable.

Peaches is being fostered in Gilroy. Her adoption fee is $200. She is spayed and has had her rabies and DHPP vaccination.
